  • Students should be seen and not heard.

That appears to be a theme across the UH system. Certainly, it was at Kauai Community College’s College Council meeting yesterday. Since your two delegates (Rel and I) share a vote, we stepped outside to briefly consult. When we returned to the room, we were told that it was decided that only the voting delegate could sit at the table.

  • Help Implement Sustainable Practices on Campus

Sustainability Committee wants more students on the committee. It also wants students to run the upcoming Earth Day in April. Faculty on board is willing to provide tons of assistance to make this possible. And don’t worry, I don’t think this earth day will be the PR/greenwashing campaign our last appeared to be. There is talk of featuring things our campus is actually doing that contribute to a sustainable way of living.

  • Caucus Prepares to Address the Gulf That Exists Between Students and the BOR

Caucus takes the first step in building a bridge of communication between students and the Board of Regents (BOR).  The BOR is the top governing body of  the UH system. Lack of communication between the BOR and students was exacerbated when the BOR abandoned its practice of breakfasting with the student council of the campus hosting their meetings.
